While the surface designs in each outdoor kitchen change to reflect individual homeowner’s personal preferences, the quality construction underneath remains consistent. For example, Arcadia's BBQ islands are built on a frame of commercial-grade, welded 1-inch square steel tubes with galvanized, rust-proof coating. Finished frames are covered with HardiBacker cement board, and all corners and seams are taped with waterproof fiberglass tape. The plaster process begins with a base coat layer and is finished with a waterproof acrylic hand-troweled for a custom-finished look.

Bold is the New Neutral

The all-white kitchen ruled during the 2010s. As a new decade dawns, the home decor pendulum begins its inevitable swing away from greyish, neutral colors paired with muted motifs toward rich colors with brave layers of patterns. The playful blue and turquoise accent wall in this outdoor kitchen boldly embraces both color and pattern. The woven bar stools, BBQ island siding, countertops, and floor all provide additional layers of varying patterns. The result is energetic and inviting — this is a place designed for fun!

Natural Textures

The ivy-covered walls in this outdoor kitchen are evocative of the environmentally friendly living-wall trend. When placed within a border of privacy hedges, the walls literally fade into the background. Inside the covered space, cedar-hued wood planks line the galley-style island counters. Bar stools with hand-carved wooden seats and elegant wire legs evoke a subtly modern, organic atmosphere.
